Elevate Your Self-Care

There are many perspectives on the genuine definition of what self-care means. Candidly, self-care is based on your personal definition and how you choose to care for yourself. Self-care should be a holistic approach of practices and methods that enable you to increase your self-preservation. That means holistically making the best effort to care for your mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and social welfare. You may have your go-to practices that help you to pour into yourself, apart from that when was the last time you evaluated your self-care practices? In essence, set aside a moment to reflect on which self-care practices you should adjust, cease, or keep in your care arsenal. 

This is a charge to the heart to encourage you to elevate your self-care by first identifying the ways in which you neglect yourself and your needs. Then crafting a care plan that enhances how you care, love, and affirm yourself. In a journal, write down the 5 areas mentioned above into columns with lines separating them. Under each column write down your current self-care practices you are consistently executing in each area and how they improve your well-being. Furthermore, on a different sheet write those same columns and new self-care practices you can implement that would elevate your overall quality of life. Take it a step further by creating a self-care roadmap for the next month or quarter that you can readily execute. Caring for yourself is not only a top priority, but it is a full time effort that you are solely responsible for. To be able to endure this marathon, substantial and life giving self-care practices are essential.
