What Are You Putting Down?
You may have been carrying something for so long that it has become a burden and antithesis to your joy. It becomes a burden to carry because it has to signal to you that it is too heavy and you need to put it down or else you will continue to allow it to drain you. We are blessed with our spirit having the ability to get our attention to prompt us to act when our human capacity to endure self-allowed unhealthy cycles is overriding our willingness to simply let something go. The purpose of this post is to bring to your awareness the importance of sharpening your ability to make a resolve in your heart to put something down (personal patterns, unproductive habits, outdated ideas, attachment to outcomes, the past, unfruitful connections, etc.) and from that moment forward refrain from picking it back up. You may have to repeatedly affirm your resolve depending on the length of time you spent investing energy into the thing you feel moved to put down.
The question, what are you putting down?, crossed my path weeks ago and immediately compelled me to reflect on what I truly need to put down. I allowed what first came to mind to be written down freely, so that my spirit could lead me in untainted truth. I encourage you to ask yourself the question and do the same. This was necessary because sometimes the mind will overthink and try to reason out of facing unfiltered truth. Candidly, one thing I am putting down for good is the need to always have answers and wrecking my brain to figure things out. Admittedly, I have actively worked on increasing my ambiguity tolerance and ability to endure necessary uncertainty. Still the outdated habit remains of constantly seeking answers to assuage wading in the unknown. That constant need to know can overwork my brain and take up a great amount of mental capacity; which can weigh heavily on my energy and joy. The time has come to divorce this habit among other things that I have resolved to put down. Essentially, whatever you bring yourself to put down make sure to fill that space with life giving and affirming things that add to your joy.
Joy Gem: “Sometimes you don’t feel the weight of something you have been carrying until you feel the weight of its release.”
