Joy Zone: Financial
The Financial zone is where we focus on your financial wellness and shifting your emotional relationship with finances. At one point in my career journey, I was a Financial Wellness Expert and a NFCC Certified Credit Counselor. This assignment deepened my perspective on the array of emotional attachments to finances and how financial wellness goes beyond having money. It ties into the old tale of someone who has a poverty mindset then wins a multi-million lottery jackpot just to lose it all in a short span of time. You know why? Their circumstances changed (received millions) yet their mind was not transformed. You pour into your internal joy when you have a handle on every aspect of your life from a healthy perspective and financial wellness has a great impact. Understanding your attachment style to finances, the root of your relationship and mindset concerning finances, and defining financial well-being for yourself. Will prove to be a vital step in your transformation and living a thriving life. It is the sum total of your internal makeup that needs a holistic transformation. If you recognize that the Financial zone is where you lack the most joy then get relentless about seeing this area of your life be renewed.
Application:
Create a personal budget journal or spreadsheet. List out your current income sources, disposable income, bills, debts, and other primary/miscellaneous expenses. Include the dollar amounts for each item on the list. Next, review your budget and ponder which areas you can cut back on. Determine how much you can realistically save each week or month. Lastly, start tracking your budget more closely so that you are more conscientious about your financial standing.
