God Is with You in the “Dry Season”

I came to the realization a few months ago that God has me in a dry season (wilderness, desert, isolation, purging) as everything around me is at a stand still. My deep seated belief is that God is my only true source for anything I need in this life, but this season has heightened that awareness as everything has dried up in a sense. Admittedly, the realization was daunting at first then it transitioned into acceptance and surrender to my current reality - more importantly God’s will. God has me exactly where He wants me for this chapter of the plan He has for my life. To be candid, what brings me internal peace is knowing that God is with me in the dry season and most of all I hold to His promise that He will never forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6). You may also read this and come to the conclusion that you are enduring a dry season that was not apparent at first. Here is a sign that you are not alone.

I am actively in the throes of navigating this season and made the decision to focus my energy on the things I can personally impact (i.e., my health, helping others, physical/mental/ emotional/spiritual preparation, releasing to make room). In this season I continue to be steadfast about drawing near to God, reading His word for guidance and uplifting, praying without ceasing, seeking insight and inspiration, and examining the ways to which to die to my flesh. The dry season entails an internal and external pruning, a call to be still and rest, loss, and a pause or reset of everything in your life. In essence, God is doing a new thing in all aspects of your life and preparing you for the next part of the journey. He is with you in the dry season and will ensure that all of your needs are met because it is a promise in His word (Philippians 4:19). Trust with all of your heart that God will provide water, sustenance, guidance, and grace to make it through this season. After the dry season comes the rain that will provide nourishment for your life to flourish again.
