Faith Above Human Reasoning

1 Corinthians 2:5 ERV | I did this so that your faith would be in God’s power, not in human wisdom.

Human reasoning is inundated with experiences, tainted memories, strongholds, and a litany of things that can cause us to have faulty reasoning. Faith will always require us to look outside of human reasoning because it is the substance of things not yet seen. Nevertheless, we often try to make sense of things from our limited human perspective that requires us to seek and have faith in our Creator. By choosing to live a life that is led by faith above human reasoning, we are in essence choosing to trust that there is a greater solution and plan that will unfold. By that standard alone, we will have to practice more patience to allow the unfolding and cast aside our human reasoning. This is not dismissing that it can be easier said than done - leading with faith is a mindful practice and building your faith muscle is a worthy feat. Here are 3 fundamental steps to help you get started.

1: Plant Bible Verses About Faith in Your Heart

Metaphorically speaking, faith is a muscle that must be exercised in order to be strengthened. By reading, meditating, and allowing verses about faith to permeate. You are planting them in your heart, so that they come to mind when there is a given moment you need to put your faith above all else. Four verses you can start planting in your faith garden (heart) - Hebrews 11:1, Matthew 21:22, Romans 10:17, Luke 1:37

2: Surrender Your Human Reasoning to God’s All-Knowing Wisdom

It is a wonderful thing to know that God’s thoughts are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). We can cast ALL of our cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). We can stand firm in our peace, joy, and patience when we simply choose to surrender our limited perspective to His all-knowing wisdom. You have the choice to tap into this at any time. Start by giving a small care over to God and surrendering your need to make sense of how He will take care of it. By starting small you work your way up to surrendering the bigger things, especially if you struggle with controlling tendencies.

3: Trust and Listen to Your Intuition

Intuition is your inner-knowing about someone or something. When you choose to listen to it, you build trust with your intuition and increase your inclination to follow it. Make time to be still to notice the small whispers. Trust that this is God communicating with you through your Spirit. You must know the righteous voice of God to ensure that it is truly Him guiding you. Simply put, the matters of God are ALWAYS righteousness, peace, and joy (Romans 14:17). Following your intuition is choosing to put faith above your human reasoning because you are literally practicing the definition of faith.

Joy Gem: Allowing faith to lead you instead of human reasoning is a continuous decision. It requires you to be firm in your resolve to trust God. The joy is knowing that God is only good and has a divine plan for you.
